Plage, Prom, Discs | HA, GB, CAK | May 26th 2019

Post by MalVeauX »

Heya,

Had some ok seeing this morning and was able to tinker around in various wavelengths to test things out. The little plage is still present near the limb, but it's activity seems to have already gone down a bit and the large proms from yesterday are gone, but a small bright prom is on the other limb that is interesting.

Hi Maurits, yessir, all where done with the ASI290MM except for the Plage in HA, that was the 174MM. The rest, convection cells, discs, etc, were with the 290MM. I've been experimenting with using the smaller sensor to have more options for image scale using smaller pixels.

Very best,

Marty:
Beautiful session.
¿How many fps are you getting from your ASI290?
Best regards,
Eric.

Hi Eric,

In FireCapture with a Flat Calibration frame and Gamma checked and being used, it is around 75fps at full resolution. It's much faster if I turn off the flat calibration & gamma use.

I have never been able to get the full advertised fps from my IMX174 nor the 290MM with my setup. I'm using a fast SSD (Samsung EVO) that is 1TB and I've tried a few different connections to the USB3 port, but generally I seem to top out around 100~110 FPS with both cameras in FireCapture with no overlay flat frame or gamma use. Not sure if the RAM is the limit or if my serial bus is the limit or what.

Very best,

These came out well! I'm tempted to get a 290M myself.
