Images from August 3

Post by gabrieli »

One fault using the C9.25 with a 3X or 4X telecentric is the very high efl that results (from 6900 - 9200 mm). I've been using these last few days of poor seeing to adjust the focal reducer/sensor separation using 2" extension tubes to try to get down to 4000 - 4500 mm. I'm playing with 2" (0.7X - 0.8X) reducers that mount easily in the optical train. I think I'm just about there. Anyway, here is a trio of images from today (August 3).

I shot this yesterday as well with a quark and 152mm at about f30. Did not have time to experiment but yours are nicer than mine. I get reflections from a iv/it filter I have and poorer contrast.

Nice work!

Here are mine for. 8-3, one of which matches yours but yours is far superior. These are grabs not processed.

Hi, Jack

One drawback with these proms is that they are so feint that you have to boost either gain or gamma so high that unwanted "glow" is accentuated and reduces background contrast. The hazy conditions in the skies here didn't help much either.

Lou, yes they were so faint.
Best regards,
