Solar FDs in 540 nm Continuum and CaK
The sky only cleared after lunch. With the late start and a brisk wind I thought it only worth setting up for FD views. No close-ups
First off 'WL' with a Baader solar continuum filter (540 nm) on the nose of a Lacerta wedge on my 72mm f6 Altair Astro 'Lightwave' ED refractor.

and in colour.

And then over to CaK with the same scope and a Lunt B600 CaK module with an omega filter and Baader K-line.

It's just a pity things are so quiet currently.
Thanks for looking.

Nice views Stu. It was blustery this afternoon, scope was bouncing all over the place. The sun is quiet though unfortunately. Look hard in the WL though, the polar faculae are visible, they were prominent today.

A nice set, Stu. I like the CaK, it came out really well.

Beautiful full discs Stuart
The Sun came out for me too in the afternoon but the wind made everything a challenge, you have much crispier shots than me.

Stu:
Beautiful FD´s, even the featureless WL ones.
Best regards,

I see what you mean, Mark, now you’ve pointed them out.marktownley wrote: ↑Sat Aug 17, 2019 7:42 pm ........Look hard in the WL though, the polar faculae are visible, they were prominent today.

The Lacerta Wedge is a very fine instrument.
Your CaK pic is beautifull.
What is you setup? You removed the 2 front filters of the Lunt and replaced them with an omega filter and a K-line?
In which order? K-Line first then Omega?

These are fine FD image Stu, and the CaK version is very sharp. Well done

Re: Solar FDs in 540 nm Continuum and CaK
Hi Alex,
No modification to the Lunt necessary. The filters are simply screwed on the front of the Barlow. The sequence is as follows:
Objective, Lunt, Baader K-line, Omega, 1.5x Barlow, camera.
Hope this helps.
