Flare has appeared on southern AR

Post by Rusted »

Gales from the west becoming increasingly difficult in the dome as it turns to south.
Seeing improving as lunch arrives and cloud clears.
A flare has suddenly appeared to the north of disturbed area!

Thanks Alexandra. :D

I'm quite pleased with progress with the new iStar f/10 H-a, OTA with full aperture D-ERF.
It's the only instrument on my big DIY GE mounting now. So it doesn't catch the wind like it did.

I was capturing images at five to ten minute intervals once the cloud finally cleared.
I capture, process and then post on my blog.
The time taken to process and post the final image dictates the capture intervals.

Only the last image before lunch showed the flare. Image capture times are all CET.
The flare capture is at 12:46 CET. The previous 12:35 CET shows no sign of a flare.

At 15:03 [CET] the flare had folded itself into a tiny U-shape at its south eastern extremity.
The seeing has gone off over lunch.

Nice on catching a flare!

I think I caught a small one last October when there was a small spot group on the disk. It was a small bright place that appeared and then vanished over just a few minutes.
