FD June 8, 2020
I think I might be getting a handle on the uneven illumination by rotating the DS. Thanks to suggestions here.

Re: FD June 8, 2020
Hi Dan,
Very good. Looks similar to what I get. As we can see the Hot spot is a bit on the rght side of the surface. This can be eventually corrected by doing like explained below.
1. I recommend now to set both etalons to zero position 0°. I guess you will notice a Ghost Sun. Now move the adjustment of the lower etalon until the second Sun disappears from the FOV.
2. Having that, start adjusting the second etalon until you have the Hot Spot in the center of the Sun.
Point 1 and 2 that is how I adjust my etalons. So I really do not know if it works with a Lunt as I have Coronado.
In order to set 0° I use a Feeler gauge (Blade feeler) and measure the separation at the hinge and that same distance I put it where the golden adjuster wheel is and here is where Lunt differs from the Coronado as I guess the hinge is not visible in the lunt eatlon ¿?

Thanks Rainer, not sure how to do that with a Lunt PT.

Re: FD June 8, 2020
Good image Dan. I always used a piece of card that I cut into a gasket to sit below my external etalon, this allows to clock the etalon to the position you want that gives most even field. Just use card of differing thicknesses to get to desired position.

Re: FD June 8, 2020
What I did was, find the correct angle and then wound a electrical insulation tape around it so it could not move anymore.marktownley wrote: ↑Mon Jun 08, 2020 7:48 pm Good image Dan. Another way to make this big washers is to print them on acetate sheets for presentation and cut them out and so you can stack them until you reach the correct distance. Acetate does not compress.

Good ideas guys, thanks. Until I find the ideal position I am using the label on the DS as an index.

Re: FD June 8, 2020
That’s a really fine FD, Dan. Your images are coming along in leaps and bounds, as we say.
Double stacking can be really fiddly. Sometimes I can pretty much point and shoot with little effort and other times I struggle to get on band and even illumination across the disk. Tuning in SS mode first and then adding the DS module and tuning/clocking that second often helps, but even then there’s a bit of fine tweaking of both required to achieve optimum results.
Nicely done.

Re: FD June 8, 2020
That's a great FD and I need to start using my DS module too! The difference between your stuff and my stuff (I still only use SS) is dramatic.
