My attempt at AR2765

Post by Bruce G »

This was taken on 6 June. I was trying to make an animation, but it just wasn't there, so I had to settle for a single frame.

Lunt LS80, single stack
5x Powermate

Somehow that B/W one is showing up a lot darker than the original

I was able to get a little more detail out of yesterday's images (2020_06_08)

And today's version (2020_06_09)

I was shooting through thin clouds. I could see a circular rainbow around the Sun. But the seeing was fair and I think I got a bit more detail than yesterday and definitely better than my first shot.

The last two are very nice
Sometimes thin hazy clouds give you very steady seeing, well known for planetary work, I would also imagine for solar less heating of the earth so even better seeing.

Bruce, those are great images! On the 8th I also imaged the AR with a Lunt 80 (double stacked) and a 5x Powermate. I could not achieve the level of detail your images show. Well done.
