June 14 2020 Observations

Post by DeepSolar64 »

Temp 70F, partly cloudy skies until rain ended the observing session. Fair seeing. Time observed from 11:30am until 3:00pm EDT local time. ( US )

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
The disc is becoming really plain. AR12765 is still easily seen with it's bright plage and embedded sunspot nearing the SW limb. Two filaments are visible to the south of it. I can see one prominence near those filaments and two others on the NW disc. The uppermost one is a group and I can see two individual proms there easily. The third is fainter. Spicule mottling covers disc.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
The faculae and sunspot of AR12765 is easily seen near the SW limb. No pores or other spots visible on disc. Granulation seen with some difficulty.

James

A beautiful description James, our delightful sunspot is rounding the limb and everything is going quiet again. Let's hope he is back in 2 weeks time and that another appears in the meantime :hamster:
I hope your father's health is improving.

Good to hear you managed to get another session in while there's still activity to be seen.

Hi James,

Thanks for a informative narrative. The disk is going to be plain for several days.

Jochen,
Clouds are gonna knock me out today I think. AR12765 should be on the limb leaving the disk today.

Alfred,
Yes. Back to a plain disk.

You are welcome Eric!

James

I have been pretty busy today myself Mark. I have hardly had a chance to get on here. I could not do a report today anyway. Cloudy and rainy.
