25/06/2020 Visual Report

Post by AndiesHandyHandies »

Hi

180mm F10 Santel Maksutov PST Stage 2 Mod Baader 35nm Beloptic KG3 UV/IR Clave' 25mm Plossl

11.25 BST Clear, Beezy

Gong O'Clock

03.15 Faint pyramid.

01.00 Large faint fuzzy - Later in the 90mm seen as big arch.

09.00 Little spray

01.15 Little Bump

180mm F10 Santel Maksutov PST Stage 2 Mod 45deg Microscope Bino head. Square Olympus copy. When I went to see RodAstro last night there was a modded Tmount for it to replace an aluminium 2" nosepiece he made so I could use T2 1.25 and 2" nosepieces. I hsd to jiggle the bits in the mod about to reach focus as a bit deeper.
This reduces the ghosts from the PST etalon. All the prisms are square on and there is a linear slide for eye seperation.

12.30 BST

09.00 Little jet

02.00 Open triangle with bump above

05.00 Little jet leaning down

05.10 Large faint spray leaning up. Faint hedge below

180mm F10 Santel Maksutov ES 2x 2" Teleextender. UV/IR Combo Prom Quark. 0.5x on 40mm Plossl. Clear, windy

05.00 Dim spot seperated from surface

01.00 Faint and fuzzy spray leaning down

05.15 Little spike

90mm TS Triplet F6.7 3x Revelation ED Barlow. UV/IR Combo Prom Quark. 32mm Meade SP. Clear, beeze wobbly over town

03.05 BST

01.00 Little jet with fat top pointing down.

00.30 Large hollow arch. Diffuse area at the top. Little jet at the left pointing down. Little jet inside the feeding jet at the right. I had the best view of this feature at this time. Very nice.

06.00 Small hollow prom. Little feature to the left.

03.00 Left feed with mushroom top. Distinct dark area under the arch. Hedge between it and the left feed.

The spicule layer shows crispest in the 90mm.

I will continue with the M180 PST Mod and the bino viewers. And the 90mm with the 3x ED Barlow with the Quarks.
As these give the best views.

I have the lenses to try the PST Mod on the Meade 127mm F7.5 triplet next. And try the 3x ED Barlow as well.
The Meade seems to have more scatter than the TS 90mm.

Cheers. Andrew.

WoW Andrew. You beat me today. I could have done better with my SM90 but was too short on time to use it.

What a lovely report of the Sun over the day and its ever changing features :hamster: you are also very lucky to live close to Rodastro, having a solar friend close by is a huge bonus :hamster: I don't know what I would do without Stuart and Mark, remote chatting in a virtual world is all well and good but nothing beats a good solar chat meet up and demonstration.

I know no one near me who does solar. Stephen Ramsden is the closest to me of anyone on here but he is still 4-5 hours away by car. I have never met Stephen but would really like to!
