Nice arching prom

Post by RodAstro »

Hi All
I just got home and caught this nice big prom.
I only got one shot before some thin cloud rolled over, when that had gone the sun was behind next doors house.
It was a short lived prom you can catch it on the SDO dashboard.
Nice to see some activity.

Cheers Rod

Very nice! I caught it visually. It didn't last long. I was hoping someone imaged it. Cool!!

It formed and dissipated pretty quick. The speeds that plasma had to move is mind boggling.

Thanks everyone
It's just nice to see some action.
We have been clouded out, rained on, or the sun has just been blank when there has been a break for the past few weeks.

I only captured 500 frames for this image and ASi3 said only 20 percent were above the 50 percent line but scanning through the images they all looked fine so I did three stacks one at 5 percent, one at 20 percent and this one at 80 percent of the images.
This one came out by far the best with a much smoother background so I could sharpen the image more.
I just thought this was interesting, don't always believe the software even though it is very good.

Cheers Rod
