Thought it was going to be a poor day and was going to auto-collimate the PST Mod on the MAK180.
However the clouds thinned and it was a good observing day.
MAk180 PST collimator Lens 35nm ERF 1.5A Omega blocker PST re-focus lens Beloptik KG3 Clave' 25mm
03.00 BST Still, blue sky and clouds looking over town.
Sweet spot near the middle.
03.30 10.45 on Gong Learmonth
A pyramid bent down at the top and thin there. Little protuberance 45deg down from top side near the bottom
Gap.
Spray jet with a little extension at the top and fuzy exension near the top above
Another spray jet seperated from surface
Had a pause looking at the front of the PST Mod baffling and the Mak baffling.
At the third time of trying got another set 4 cheap filters which make 20mm baffles or stops with the glass and re-taining ring removed. Added one on 1.25" extenders in front of the Blocker filter and behind the PST collimator lens. Also added a 20mm baffle to a Blue Lightning 48mm to filter thread adapter at the front of a 48mm extension stack on a 2" to 1.25 adapter below the eyepiece.
04.00 BST
Pyramid with sharp top pointing left. Two spicules feeding each side.
Faint jet above the pyramid with a flat spicule below.
Then a spray jet.
A larger Chromosone Jet. Top arms slightly longer.
A spray jet leaning down to the Chromosone.
05.30 BST
A pyramid with a little pyramid next to it above.
Then a little seperate pyramid, thin with brighter top side
Tuning fork prom with bright feet supporting on either side so altogether like a Chromosone
Inverted pyramid spray above.
I was rotating the PST Mod trying to find the best position with respect to various reflections.
I decided to try polarisers again.
Stationary one after the 35nm ERF and a rotating one on the eyepiece.
And they seem to work better than when I tried them before. The proms were more skeletal like the Chromosphere Quark. And a darker background near the sun like the bino-viewers, still reflections further out.
04.45 BST
For the only time there was a bright straight prom to the left of the group arching to the left. Over a spicule.
Spicule
The familiar pyramid extended to the right and a dark hole in the base on the left.
Chromosone now a fir tree with an arch on the left from one third up to the top. Bright feeds on either side.
Prom to the right is now a water diviners twig bent to the right.
Below the active region there was a bright jet prom pointing up.
I can see more detail of the active region. A bright white thread with a thin black one below pointing slightly right.
I can see the fuzzy black area beyond the black thread.
Plenty of mottling over the surface.
02.00 Thin seperated jet.
05.35 BST

Dumpy hollow prom with hollow base. Little pyramid next to it.
The chromosone prom has longer top arms and the arc to the left. The bottom of the arc over a spicule so is that the feed?
The spray jet is now a seperated dovetail with the top wide.
A good session.
The proms were detailed and in good focus it seemed.
The polarisers show up more surface details, perhaps at cost of prominence details?
We have stormy weather now for a while. May be the odd opportunity.

You certainly got more on limb features than I did today. I was concentrating more on the disc and it’s features in double-stack.

Are the sort of details I am seeing consistent with other visual observations of the same prominences.
In Rsfoto's image I see the active region as imaged but the area I see structures in is a fuzzy hedge in the image?

I think there's only a few people here who are regularly observing visually.
Things change quick on the sun, so what you see and what Rainer images might be quite different in a short space of time.
Bear in mind your 'clock face' method of reporting is totally unique to you at the time you observe, if you rotate your diagonal etc then the features move relative to the clock face, and, clock face wise will be totally different to what others see / image.
