October 3 2020 Observations

All,
Session time is from 10:30am to 10:56am EDT local time. ( US ). Skies are clear and seeing is close to average. Temp is 54F.

Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
The disc shows surprisingly little detail. A decent set of hedgerow proms are seen on the NE limb appearing visually much as they do in the GONG Cerro Tololo Ha image. I also see a small bright prom in the NW leaning southward. The plage to AR12773 is surprisingly hard to see as it nears the limb. I see no filaments near it. I can only with difficulty see two small filaments in the far south. The mottles show good contrast and cover the solar disc.

Orion 70mm Solar Telescope. 25x and 50x ( WL )
The faculae to AR12773 is VERY easy to see in white light today. Closing in on the limb. I can also pick up granulation today as well. No other details seen.

Mark and Alexandra, I hope you get some clear skies soon. I am in Rock Hill SC today and we have a lot of high cloudiness here. It’s still clear back home in the NC mountains. We did get some nice views of Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and the Moon last night. It was perhaps the best views of Mars I have had since the 1988 opposition. All the major features were visible even the tiny south polar cap could be seen in my AT72EDII. My friend’s SharpStar 94 EDPH triplet gave wonderful views.
