Sunday Sun 22nd November 2020 - AR2783 & FD
Hi all,
I had about 30 minutes of Sun this morning, so I used the limited time available to capture a Ha full disk and, with good seeing this morning, a close view of AR2783. My FDs are usually imaged with a Basler acA1920-155um, which work best as multi-pane mosaics to match the image scale with my Lunt 60 fitted with a 2.5x PowerMate. Recent single pane images using a 1.5x barlow have been under sampled. This morning I wanted to trial my Basler acA2440-75um with smaller pixels as an alternative. Usually this suffers from NRs like crazy, although today I managed to reduce these to almost nothing using a homemade tilted nosepiece. Unfortunately the FD doesn't quite fit onto the sensor by a whisker, so two panes were required (I'm sure I can address this with suitable spacing).
The close views were captured on my 150mm/Lunt 35 mod. The wider view is a mosaic of six images.
First up, Ha FDs on the Lunt. Tuning could have been tighter.

It's amazing what you imagers can do in such a short time. I bought a ZWO camera but haven't had a chance to play with it at all. Between work, wife, babysitting kids, helping stepdaughter move and visiting Sarah, my daughter I have had little time. Solar observing, sleep and prayer being my only refuge. I'll get there in time. I am gonna start out imaging white light. I feel it would be easier.

Sounds like a good idea James, as starting at WL should be easy enough to get the feel of the camera and whatever computer is used.

Hi
Nice images as usual.
I had a few sights of the big prom whilst having a play with my kit.
At one point it looked like it was made out of lace.
Later it looked like a cock hen standing on the left looking over a hen looking left.
Cheers. Andrew.

White light also seems easier with my DSLR and iPhone too. And visually it is easier too!EGRAY_OBSERVATORY wrote: ↑Sun Nov 22, 2020 8:22 pm Sounds like a good idea James, as starting at WL should be easy enough to get the feel of the camera and whatever computer is used.
