Another Zoom Session ?

Post by MapleRidge » Tue Nov 24, 2020 12:26 am

Hello everyone...

I was wondering if members would be interested in setting up another Zoom chat session in the near future? The last on was well received and we left it open to try again.

The last was on a Sunday, either at 6pm local time in the UK/Early afternoon EST...open to suggestions or support for the idea. If we have interest a firm date/time can be set-up and if anyone with a paid Zoom account wants to host that would make it more seamless. I would offer to host, but my account is subject to the 40min time limit on their 'Free' account...it will work if need be.

Since this weekend is Thanksgiving in the USA, maybe another date is better, but it's open for discussion ;)

Anyone else interested in the idea?

Brian

Hi All...

It sounds like there is interest in another session!!!

Could the topic be set as an announcement so that it is readily visible to all when they sign in? Mark or Alexandra, is that something you can setup?

Thanks,
Brian

I"m in. The last time worked well for me. If the sun is out members can also broadcast by sharing their screen. Since I will be in my observatory during the call that is easy.

Hi everyone...

What is the preferred date to set up a session...we could go this weekend on Sunday (Nov 29th) or the following Sunday (Dec 6th)?

I will post an invitation for the preferred date in this thread, with a start time of 18:00UT.

I will double check on Saturday morning to see if there is a preference for this weekend and post invite as required.

Thanks all,
Brian

Well done Brian :hamster: I thought you were going for next weekend but tomorrow is fine. Let me know if you want me to change to my Zoom unlimited? The University has actually lifted its ban on screen sharing (I think, not tried it out yet).

Can folks let us know if they have some questions and then we can discuss them (an agenda) or do you just want to chat :)

Hi Alexandra...

It sounded like either Sunday was suitable and I set up to tomorrow...can do next weekend too if we don't finish up ;)

As for specific questions that people have I'd think if they were posted here before the session we can be sure to address them, other wise a general open chat works.

I'll let you know about switching to your Zoom account...so long as it gets set up before the session gets started. Don't want to make this too complicated

Hi,

I recommend for this sort of links to make a separate unique message, set it up as a global and lock it so one can find it easily. Searching for the meeting links in an ongoing message is sometimes a bit confusing.

IMHO
