Sun in H-Alpha 10th of January 2021

Post by arnedanielsen » Sun Jan 10, 2021 5:29 pm

Obtained this FD image of the Sun in H-Alpha from my 1st floor balcony. Still battling the low maximum altitude of only 8 degrees at this time of the year.

Equipment used for this image was a Coronado SolarMax 60 II w/BF15 filter, Baader 35nm H-Alpha filter and ASI ZWO 178MM camera. Everything mounted on a Sky-Watcher SolarQuest mount.
Stack of the best 1100 of 2751 images captured with an exposure time of 28ms and 30fps. Stacking done in Autostakkert 3, sharpening in AstraImage and contrast stretching in Adobe PhotoShop.

Best regards,
Arne

WoW, 8 degrees above the horizon. And I complain here. Well done against those odds!

Looks great, Arne.

Just had a quick look at the rise/set times where you live. That's some short days!
