15-2-2021 THE NEWS LOOKS EVEN BETTER

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY »

Well it does seem that some action should occur in the northern hemisphere in due course.

The latest STEREO image here, does show a positive-outcome is possible. As you can, it's not big, but whether it is growing in activity as a prominence appears to be coming from it, or whether it is on the decaying-route - we shall have to wait and see in about 3-days time.

Looking at the SDO Tri-colour image - 0049z of today/15-2-2021, it's a tad surprising that the various active-regions around the disk are not really giving us more to image on the surface in Ha & WL although, Pedro has certainly shown some of that detail in his excellent stacked images of the 14th Feb..

Patience is still the name of the game, as sooner or later it must change - hopefully...

Cheers
Terry

Thanks, Terry for the heads up. Agree with you that it does not look like a big active region, for now :)

Thanks Terry.

The filament in the southern hemisphere lifted off a few hours ago looking at the Learmonth animation.

Thanks Alfred and not so big AR, but big hopes..!

Yes Mark, on looking at the SDO imagery earlier, I did think that some of the filament is weaker or missing.
Still at 1220z today, their is still to see as the attached image shows.

ps I am anticipating that my forecast/reports will now occur at between midnight and 0200hrs-Z, so others from the eastern-side of the UK, can see them in their own times. If something exceptional, such as the filament-change etc., I'll add them to the earlier post...

Cheers
Terry

Whatever is coming around the northern limb in a couple of days time has certainly increased in activity over the course of today... :)

Thanks Alexandra and Mark.

Looking at the North-pole area, there's a bright but small-ish AR, which could give us a very-rare treat...

Let's keep on hoping (in other words, Wish Upon a Star !!)...

I would not know. I haven't had a sunny day since the 10th. Thanks for the updates Terry.
