Hi all, sorry for the belated post for imaging on the 12th February. Autostakker3 kept on crashing my laptop and when I did get it all running it stacked with strange artifacts. Anyway better late than never, lol. Lunt 60ds, 178mm Zwo ASI camera. 80ed +Baader-Cak K-Line and Hershal wedge.

Nice belated images Nigella! You might want to try stopping the ED80 down to 50mm to give an even cleaner disk, scopes always work better stopped down at these short wavelengths.

Thanks Mark, I'll give it a go, if/when I see the sun again, lol.

Hi Nigella, well worth waiting for these excellent set of images.

I too have had to stop-down my ED80 last year with its' HW, but only took a couple of images before the Sun went too-low from my observatory.

I have refitted that scope between the Lunt 60mm Ha and Cal-K scopes on the mount - ready for a restart of imaging very shortly and a play with the 50mm or 60mm stop-downs to see which is the best. (I have already prepared the f-stop disks).

Can i ask which platform your computer is using ??
In any case if that happens again, see if you can get a download of an earlier version as AS2, as I have several versions available of AS and not had any problems on my WIN-7, Win8.1 machines. You can have more than one version installed to choose from on a single PC.. I do also have a Win-10 PC, but there are problems with that machine, which will be sorted in due course by my IT guy - whenever...

Thanks for sharing
Terry

Thanks Terry, never had a problem with Autostakker3 before, so it's strange. I'm running a win10 i3 laptop so should have been OK. I'll take a look to see if I can get hold of an AS2 copy.. I'm getting a dedicated mini pc for the solar RoR already ordered so I don't have to lump the laptop around. Hopefully that'll be more up to date, lol.

Thanks Nigella.
I also have the same problem, where a computer (not laptop) is installed in the observatory and for winter imaging in WL, will be done using my Revolution R2 Imaging System, which is a viewing and recording-system, which only requires a portable 7" monitor, like you not wanting to take a large-screen laptop to and from.
This way, I can transfer the images via an SD-card Mini Digital video Recorder to either a large-screen laptop or ultra-large screens' computer in the observatory. That system can also be used for Lunar, Planetary and Deep-Sky imaging using my ETX-125-EQ-mount. This will be from a new mini-observatory - elsewhere in my large garden - to be built/erected in the Summer.

Best Wishes
Terry

Nigella,
You have done beautifully with these. I'll have to install Autostakkert on my Windows 8.1 laptop. I hope it doesn't crash. Now if I can only learn to do beautiful images like you do. It looks a bit bewildering to me. But I will certainly try it. I have skills at visual astronomy but am very limited in knowledge in imaging.

Thanks James, appreciate your comment. You'll master the learning curve, I'm all self taught so if I can do it anyone can, lol. Be lovely when you're posting those images. Imaging is a good way to record your observations, I love it.
