17-2-2021 1500z SPOTS, SPOTS, SPOTS

Post by EGRAY_OBSERVATORY » Wed Feb 17, 2021 3:10 pm

At last the long sequence of days without spots has come to an end - for now at least.

The NORTH-CENTRAL region is showing two spots (one dark/one faint). No AR number yet allocated...

No STEREO images available since my last post...

Cheers
Terry

I think you are being generous calling those spots. :)

Thanks Dan, but they are spots, as they certainly aren't dust on my screen ??
Thanks Geoff and an arrow is now added - thanks for the comment.

Cheers

Fab comment Geoff and the second-image with the arrows is not as good quality as the first, so referring to the first will better see the spots.

Yes of course they are quite small, but many large spots begin somewhere as often small like these, so to keep an eye on their locations for what they might do next...

Wouldn't yet know about the the jab-spots similarity - as I can't have one yet...

Cheers
Terry

Thanks Nigella - hopefully your clouds will blow away...

Yes Mark that's what I thought and especially there is activity in that area - as the very latest SDO image (attached) shows.

I hope so too Alexandra. The last ones in the North came and went quickly, so hopefully these will expand in due course.

Cheers

Yes, I got them visually today. Two just west of the central longitudinal meridian in the NW quad. Small but better than no spots at all. I hope they grow.

Thanks vm James - was hoping that you would visually see the newbies and as you say, better than nothing.

I'll compare the latest SDO imagery in about 30 minutes to see if they appear to be growing (or otherwise)...

Cheers
Terry
