have you tried an experiment with a different blocking filter on your Sm90II. From my experience with coronado parts, they are truly reliant on this factor. If your blocking filter is not matched to the etalon you get exactly this problem.

How does your BF30 look when you point it at a white lamp?


Here are three examples of coronado blockers.

pst BF5 red
pst bf5 orange
coronado BF15 dark orange

I have a BF15 that was matched to the SM90II by Oliver Smie (Beloptik). I used the BF30 today though

A great series, Pedro, but the large prom is the money shot today.

They all look great to me. Including the one through the SMII90 etalon. Pedro, that's the one you had Meade to work on and had someone else to work on as well, right? I remember you mentioning it in the Zoom meeting.

You probably have more of a discerning eye than I do.

The SM90II was sent twice to the Meade factory and once to Oliver Smie (Beloptik). According to Oliver it is now on band but it still lacks contrast and definition. I guess it is still OK for visual though

Wow!! the huge prominence is a beauty a great set Pedro apart from the SM90, it is so off band you can't even see the AR in the south, that is more than a little 'lacking contrast'

It definitely works well with the 152 as a double stack, but as a single stack that 90 is not on band, regardless of what Oliver says. Still, at least you know it does have a use in double stack mode, not quite a complete paperweight...
