April 1 2021 Observations.
Session time is 11:00am until 11:55am EDT local time ( US ). The skies are partly cloudy with poor seeing. The temperature is a cold 37F. Windy.
Coronado SolarMax II 60 DS. 16x and 21.5x ( Ha )
I can see the majority of the detail shown on the GONG Cerro Tololo image even though not as well and not all at once. I have to move the scope around a bit to get individual features in the sweet spot. I got 11 filaments on the disc! 8 of these are in a polar crown band in the southern hemisphere. Two more are spread NE of those and the last one found is in the far NE very close to the limb.
I can see a single plage in the NW. That of AR12812.
I can see three prominences today. Two on the SW limb with the lower one having a blunt pyramidial shape and a third " wisp " on the SE limb.
The mottles are a bit soft today but visible.
Astro-Tech AT72EDII w/Altair wedge. 24x and 47x ( WL )
The only detail I can see is the faculae to AR12812 in the NW. The granulation is really soft. Barely visible at all.
Carpe Diem!
James

Re: April 1 2021 Observations.
Things seem to have calmed down quite a bit, thanks for the excellent report we had total cloud today and it has gone rather chilly.

Re: April 1 2021 Observations.
Thank you James.
As said, not so much action on or around the Sun today and in any case a cloud-covered sky here - all day.
Regards
Terry

You all are welcome. That's the beauty of SolarChat. We can observe and image for each other so when clouds arrive we can still see what is going on!

Re: April 1 2021 Observations.
Incidentally, I counted all the day's in March I'd imaged the sun, It was 18 days. I'm quite surprised really for March in the UK. Hopefully April will be as good or even better.

Re: April 1 2021 Observations.
HM,
Winter has returned here in western North Carolina for a short while. Both tonight and tomorrow night are forecast to get well below freezing.
Nigella,
I missed more days in March than usual. It was in general a cloudy month. I am hoping for fewer clouds and better seeing in the coming months. The latter half of March saw the Sun rise high enough to clear many of the trees in my backyard long enough to once again use my back deck as an observing site. It speeds up the setup and takedown time and I can use my Carver stereo to listen to music as I observe.

Re: April 1 2021 Observations.
You are welcome Jochen. I am under clear but unseasonably cold skies today. Good luck on clearing and imaging.
