10th April

Post by robert »

Sunny but poor seeing, some activity to see, the prominence on the south is moving about. My animation is 7.5 minutes and something is just about visible!

Thanks Alexandra.

What a good memory you have. It was when I first got the LS60 sevral years ago and using it with a Chameleon 3 I got horrible rings. I tried lots of stuff and asked on the forum. I think you were one of my helpers. A tilter was suggested so I got one that keeps the axis unaltered more or less and adjusted it until it worked. I have just measured the tilt and it seems to be 5 degrees. I have never touched it since, it just works.

So the image plane is not perpendicular to the axis but I guess the stacking and sharpening software sorts most of that out. No rings though!

Best
Robert

Very nice results Robert! Try running some electrical tape around the open section of the tilter to make it light tight, you might be surprised the increase in contrast you get.
