Appenzellersonne 26th Dez, two ribbon solar flare

Post by swisswalter »

Hi all

despite very bad seeing I shot something interesting. As I learned "a two ribbon solar flare".

Have fun

Very nice! I just finished imaging and did not see that at all in that region.

Hi Alexandra, Mark and Ken

thank you very much. It was just by hazard that I caught it during a tiny outreach with a neighbour. One tree is down :-) However it did cost us two sun glasses ;-)

These two images were taken about 15min apart. You can see the two ribon solar flare becoming more active.

I know now that I should have taken more images....

Very interesting Pedro, it looks like the flare was generated each side of the neutral filament (2 ribbon flare). I don't see the filament disconnecting beforehand (unless that happened later).

About one hour lh latter. Things change very quickly in the sun. I will be imaging again tomorrow. Very interesting stuff.

Hi Apollo

thank you very much. An intresting proposal, but that is not possible, because my wife has hung me already on to the wall (too much sunwork ;-) )
