Re: HR images 20111227
Hi Earl:
I am using the DMK41 and the sun was 20 degrees above the horizon. Almost perfect seeing.

Hi Rusty:
The Taka FS128 is an apo refractor with 2 elements (flourite as the front element). I used the Baader Solar Continuum without any UV/IR cut as Chris suggested. These HR images turned out quite well.

Hi Rusty:
That was my initial guess. The 2" Lunt Solar Wedge I have was hand picked by Markus Ludes (APM). According to him it is one of the best he tested. I guess the included ND filters should habe some kind of UV/IR cut.

Pedro, superb. Thank you for the competition. . You can try the test I did today with my wedge, see what the exposure difference is between no IR blocker and when you put one in. For me the brightness cut in half when I inserted the clear looking IR block, and the contrast increased noticeably.

Hi Chris:
I'm off again to my observatory. I will give it a go (with and without UV/IR filter).

Did teh comparison pics. The exposure is cut in half but there is only a slight increase in contrast. I will post them in the afternoon.
