A day of filaments

Post by JohnW » Fri Dec 30, 2011 5:48 am

The 23rd Dec in Australia was a day for filaments on the Sun's surface. This H-alpha image was taken through a single stacked SolarMax II 60 mm scope using a Canon 1000D SLR camera. One single exposure at 1/320 sec and 200 ISO. The sunspot group at top right was AR11383/4. North pole of Sun was to the left/ east up.
