I wasn't planning to post this but it shows a lot of activity. I will admit I was very lazy on this one. I let Photoshop do the alignment and stacking which never does a real good job. Time lapse is 1 hr 20 minutes taken at 1 minute intervals. Each frame is ~200 stacked images at 90% quality using Registax.

Hi Earl
very fine animation. I was surprised to see newton rings. Your aligning must be perfect, may be even to perfekt

I have not be able to get rid of newton rings. As soon as I use a barlow or powermate ... newton rings. Stacking, flats, and darks do nothing to get rid of them. I forget who it was but one of the guys here told to move th escope slightly while capturing. The wind moves my scope slighty so I don't have to worry about that.
Would a field flattener help?
Well my new Solarmax 90 comes in tomorrow so maybe I will not have to worry about that problem as much. I never see newton rings in my 127mm when using barlow or powermate.

Earl,
I slightly loosen the screw(s) holding the camera in the eyepiece cup so that it is just slightly tilted and I never get Newtons rings. You should try it.
