Driveway Solar Jan 18th

Post by solarchat »

I have had so many problems getting my Mach On to work on a 12 volt battery that I just about dumped it. I bought a big power supply though and wanted to try it out so I setup in the driveway this morning to see if I could catch the big prom.

Let me tell you, that dang AP Mach One, when properly powered and aligned, just cannot be beat for accurate tracking. The Sun never moved a bit over 4 hours with a 2.5 Televue. I need to film an animation with this setup ASAP.

Anyway, I used the LS100/LS100F to get a few shots with the DMK51/DMK21. I also used Ken Crawford's Smart Sharpen technique that he so graciously debuted on our awesome forum. It works significantly better than unsharp mask thats for sure. Ill have to get used to it. I don't like how it keeps the same values from the last time you use it but I guess all the tools do that.

Anyway, here are some of my favorites. Big Catholic school event tomorrow so I have to go to bed now...

(she just hasn't figured the whole telescope thingy out yet :)

thanks for looking!

ya thanks man, but the sky here in Atlanta is very dingy grey and even on the coldest of days with the crispest of air, there are dozens and dozens of contrails just looming overhead.

I counted last night and cold only see 5 stars from horizon to horizon and one of them was Jupiter..

I generally drive over to my friend Theo Ramakers house or near it to image (60 miles away) but I needed AC power to test the power supply for tomorrows event.

your smart sharpen took just a tad more yukky pollution out of the images..

Clear skies, telescope and cameras, good looking dame....all you need now is hot-wings and a beer.

Nice shooting, Tex!

A beautiful set of images!! You look cold Stephen? I always imagined where you live that it is always warm, it's funny how we have mental images and in reality it turns out not to be true.

He does look cold. Yet his wife looks hot (only a long sleeve shirt). Odd. Dude you look like you are loosing weight. Hope that is intentional.

Oh yeah...love the images. :cheer:

Hi Alexandra

you are so right. It happens every day to me, unless I have met the person. The web is a great thing, but personal contact is much better and much more rewarding

Excellent shots Stephen! You must show your wife which end of the telescope you look in however...

Do you have a backyard? Time for that permanent setup!

Stephen,
Great set of images and great setup as well. My only remark is the greenish tint on the colorized image, make features like plagues, which are white, been shown as green... but that is just me. Other than that, perfect.

I hope you have had a nice event with the kids.

Best Regards,

Fernando

I don't see green either. They look great to me. Perhaps I need a Spider.

Hi Stephen,
Yes, I did the same remark in one of the Chris post. Humm... For comparison, I am uploading one of the last images I did, which looks to be well color mapped on my monitors. Would be great if you guys could give me a feedback on how this image looks on your monitors, I might be with my stuff here all out of tuning.
This image is old as recently all we have here is rain. Stephen, I hope you don't get upset with this upload on your thread.

Best Regards,

Fernando

Hi Nando,
It depends on your classification of normal and what you like to see?
I'll describe your image as I see it, I would describe it as a pale brown colour.

Regards
Alexandra
