Thanks Alexandra:
Seeing was fair to good (3/5). To take full advantage of the LUNT152 aperture I will have to image with better seeing conditions... Maybe in spring

Re: SUN 20120122 WL LUNT152
fantastic results Pedro! Like you, I wish for the sun to be higher in the sky, maybe then seeing conditions will let me use my 127mm effectively for WL more than just on a handfull of occassions throughout the year...

Exactly Mark. I normally spend lots of time in front of my screen waiting for moments of good seeing. Since I use the LUNT152 inside a dome I will have to deal with other problems when the temperature increases... It's a long battle against bad seeing conditions (eventually we will succeed)

Oh Pedro,
That first white light shot is just stunning. It is so beautiful to watch all the little fractalized intricacies of the active region. Yes, I said fractals. i would love to work out the equations that produce these shapes...
It is NOT always Sunny here unfortunately..

There is a solar transit of the Sun scheduled right over my driveway on Thursday but the forecast is for more storms. We will see..

Tee hee hee, here in the UK we spend most of our time sat waiting for the clouds to part, let alone the good seeing. Have a look at the satellite pic below from this evening...
satellite-pic by Mark Townley, on Flickr
I live slightly north and west of the red dot in the centre of England (Birmingham) - infact just (typically) under that thick ribbon of cloud that in draped across England and Wales. Alexandra fares no better either, we're sharing the same belt of cloud...
Weather seems to be much more solar friendly in Portugal...

Maybe I should change my retirement direction from North Carolina/Northern GA to Portugal. I still have time to learn the language.

Yuk, why is that cloud always sat in the middle over us! it's like a cloud motorway
I was hoping to get out and take a picture of Orion tonight as they forecast it to be clear, I guess not. Who pays these forecasters?

Beautiful ones Pedro, I've tried the WL this weekend but the Sun's still right over the roof tops so the seeing still terrible form my large apertures, but I've manage to do some Ha full disks.

The best is yet to come! My best LUNT152 H-alpha images were made this morning. I am still hard at work (processing the images).
