Bringing the detail on my solarmax 40 to a peak

Post by Cschur »

Hi all,

Here are few final Halpha images from sunday, which the seeing was good, and I think I have achieved about the maximum detail I can reach with my diminuative aperture of 40mm. The reason for exploring max details in an image and what tecniques can be used to bring them up is so when I get my 100mm Lunt in a few weeks, Ill be able to get the most out of it. These images were processed with a bit of wavelets, followed by a small amound of high pass filtering to lower the low frequency detail, yet retain the high frequency detail. How do they look to you? Thanks for looking!

I think you are really beginning to get a lot of detail out now Chris, image 1 is particularly fab and the prominences and spicule layer is very fine indeed. Perhaps the colour could do with a touch more orange to give it fire. If you play around with the brightness and contrast after adding the colour (increase the contrast) it can bring a bit of zing out like Rusty said.

Regards
Alexandra
