Additions to the Reference Library

Post by Merlin66 »

I'll use this thread to keep everyone uptodate with additions and changes to the "virtual Library" material.
I've just added links to the SOHO and GONG sites.

"Astronomical Spectroscopy - The Final Frontier" - to boldly go where few amateurs have gone before

"Astronomical Spectroscopy for Amateurs" and
"Imaging Sunlight - using a digital spectroheliograph" - Springer

Solar Monitor would also be a good addition to on-line data.

As would Big Bear Solar Observatory live image:

It would be nice to have a title 'recommended book list'

I was also going to say solarmonitor but I also really like Kanzelhohe as they have a CaK full disc
http://www.solobskh.ac.at/index.php

and of course http://www.spaceweather.com/

Alexandra

Thank you for your effort. I no longer need to search for the Tutorial I am interested in OR Bookmark the Tutorial in my Book Mark List (which I then need to search thru).

If you have any book (or eBook) recommendation for the library listing let me know.
I'll check through my collection for starters....

Hi Ken

ahhhhhhhhhh so it works. Thank you very much.

Shouldn't we distiguish between stacking software and capturing software :?

Only stardust in the wind, some fine and some less fine scopes, filters and adapters as well. Switzerland 47 N, 9 E, in the heart of EUROPE :)

I find these two useful (and I can't see them in the library - but I may be just not familiar enough with it):
http://www.solen.info/solar/
and:
http://www.atoptics.co.uk/tiltsun.htm
Which can be used to copy Long/Lat grids to your images.

There are 6 Ha images on GONG running in time zone sequence, there seem to be a couple at any time of day or night from your location that are up to the minute.

Here is the rest of my favourite books:

Astrophysics of the Sun by Harold Zirin, Cambridge University press, 1988

Fundamentals of Solar Astronomy by Arvind Bhatnagar, World Scientific series, 2005

Please could we have a heading 'Manufacturers'

In alphabetical order:

Baader Herschel wedge / film - http://www.baader-planetarium.de/

Daystar - http://www.daystarfilters.com/

Lunt Europe - http://www.lunt-solarsystems.eu/

Lunt USA - http://www.luntsolarsystems.com/

Solarscope - http://www.solarscope.co.uk/products.html

Solar Spectrum - http://www.solarspectrumfilter.de/

(sorry if I missed one)

Also a title 'Solar presentations'

If anyone does a solar presentation they wish to share, Mark T has one here at the bottom of the thread:
http://solarchat.natca.net/index.php/en ... th-january

Many thanks
Alexandra

I also meant to say before, would it be possible to put a title by each link (like I have done above) as asummary? I think it makes lists easier to read as some web addresses don't necessarily say what they are. For example:

Tilting Sun - http://www.atoptics.co.uk/tiltsun.htm

Also, Emil put another few tips into the Autostakkert thread about batch processing.

A big thank you Merlin :)

Alexandra
