Check out that huge prom right now!

Post by Cschur »

We just did our daily viewing at 930am break time at work here with the "Traveling PST" and saw some killer prom action on the limb. One big one is a huge broken arch, with tons of fine details. The other is a "mound" style prom, but very bright in intensity. You should also be aware of this weekend a gigantic sunspot from the far side is coming on to the eastern limb and I have been watching it on the far side GONG data for a week now. I dont know how the umbra will look, but certainly it will be better than anything we have right now. Stay tuned.

This mornings sun is great! Get out there and observe if you can. Couple of good decent sized proms, together with numerous smaller scale features on the limb. Those of you with larger apertures will love todays 'hairy sun'!

I've removed the mini ERF from my blocker and this has SIGNIFICANTLY reduced my exposure time - from the usual 1/38s @ f20 to 1/109s @ f20, quite a considerable difference (for my 40mm!) Just some passing cloud right now, but the data i've shot for my full disk mosaic could be some of the best i've got in some time. I'm looking forward to what avistack throws out later on.... :)

Thanks Derek and Alexandra! Have been getting a good run of data in Ha, however the lappy seems to be having a tantrum now and won't let ICCapture record anything more :( I've tried a few things so far to no avail, wanted to get a WL and CaK run too, but not sure that will be possible...
