Solar cameras - recommendations please

Post by astroshot »

I have a DMK21 mono, which is a great camera.
However, the FOV is a little small.
I am thinking of getting a camera with a bigger FOV and would appreciate your recommendations.

I have heard that the Flea3, Basler and i-Nova cameras are very good.

Anyone here use them?

Hi Michael

I'm working with a basler scout and a basler ace. I'm very happy with the performance of the cameras, however not so with the customer service.

Hi Michael:

DMK41 and DMK51 are also interesing options. The Flea3, Basler and i-Nova cameras can be much faster but more expensive.

Walter: Which soft you use to control your basler ace?

best regards

Hi Michael,

I would vote for Basler Ace ACA1300-30gm. Look at the previous thread here http://solarchat.natca.net/index.php/en ... urce-dmk21

If ordered from AiryLab, the price includes the excellent capture software Genika. They have very good service at least in French and English.

Hi Viljo

Genica is realy fast, very fast, compared to other capturing software, but it is not free and not that user friendly as for example firecapture or sharpcap

As I am used to the DMK cameras, it might be easier to just get one with a larger chip.
Thanks.

I have the DMK21 usb and a DMK41-firewire.
Steady, capable cameras - I can even use the larger chipped DMK41 for the spectroscope.

My personal favorites of all the cameras I use are the DMK51 and the PGR Grasshopper. i would keep the DMK21 for quicker frame rates with close up prominences though.
