Sun 3rd March

Post by Montana »

With a wet weekend forecast I was extremely lucky at midday to be able to get some quick pictures in. It was a race between huge heavy showers with about 30 minutes in between.

These were taken with the DS PST / 2x Barlow / DMK41

Outstanding. Its interesting to see how that long filament we have been viewing all week has broken into a bunch of small dots.

I think it's a polar crown, there was one in the southern hemisphere too. if memory serves we tend to get them when activity is low, which, one could argue is atm relative to what it should be. Lets hope todays rain passes over in time to get some late afternoon viewing in...

Alexandra,
Love these images, just great mosaic !!!

It is really hard to capture for compostion when the weather is changing so much like that. You did a great job for both capture, processing and stitching.

Prominence looks very nice too with very fine details.

Hope you get clear sky soon,

Fernando

Thanks everyone :)

I'm so happy, the sky cleared this evening (always does at the last minute) and we went for a walk, we saw MERCURY :woohoo: it was fabulous! Jupiter and Venus were like jewels and we just stopped in our tracks when it dawned on us that the small orange ball near the horizon was mercury. Mars was also like a traffic light in the east. What a walk :)
