Giant Meteorite?

Post by solarchat »

Hi gang,

We have one week left in the yearly Charlie Bates Solar Astronomy Project fundraiser! If you haven't considered contributing to keep our forum and our STEM program going, I wish that you would reconsider as we have something really special here. The best forum on the net for astronomy and we actually do something other than trying to one-up each other with our scope sizes and equipment...lol We are making a difference in the world but it costs money so that is why we raise funds, once per year.

Geoff Notkin of the Meteorite Men and his company Aerolite have joined in the fun by offering yet another grand prize in the fundraiser! He has donated a 947.6 gram Gebel Kamil meteorite that landed in ancient Egypt 5000 years ago. This is a large, heavy fantastic piece of the early solar system! It is valued at $1895 retail and comes complete with authenticity paperwork from Geoff himself.

The fantastic 127mm APO CF scope is guaranteed to be given away already. When we reach the goal of $30k, all of the other grand prizes will be given away to lucky donors.

We are just over $4,000 away from full funding for 2015. Here is where the funding has came from so far.
