In response to Lou's question on 'one shots' i've put together a tutorial covering one way of processing these, using shadows and highlights, and then the sharpening process.
There's also the possibility of dealing with these using levels alone, and that will be the focus of a forthcoming tutorial.
Hope this is useful to some people and gives a bit of an insight into the post processing possibilities using photoshop.
