very nice
you can barely see stitching
is there algorithm to average edges?

Dear highfnum, I haven't used special smoothing method to process the edge.
The only thing related to the edge is I show the original stitched image to the proms and outer part, and show FF processed solar disk at the center. It was because the outer part becomes very odd after applying FF division.

Re: 20140118 4" SCT SHG Mosaic
Dear highfnum, maybe I have mis-understood your meaning previously.
To hide the stitching edge is the difficulty part of the processing.
I need to fine tune the brightness of each scan to match another one, there are 3 scans per solar disk. After the brightness adjustment, I will let the upper layer has feather transparency edge, so it won't be very obvious.
But you may still be able to find some of the edges of stitching, especially the H-gamma one.

Wah, these are simply magnificent! I have NEVER seen the sun displayed with such detail in so many hydrogen wavelengths. Can you show me a screen capture of your program in process? I'd love to see the intermediate steps.

Re: 20140118 4" SCT SHG Mosaic
Dear Cschur,
I will first capture some AVI videos of the spectrum while scanning the solar image on the slit.
Then using VirtualDub to crop and convert the files from Mono8 to a more common format.
And then use this program to merge the spectral line images:
http://solarchat.natca.net/index.php/en ... ram-update
After merging the spectral lines together, I use Photoshop to do the mosaic.
