Minor Solar Storm (Kp5)

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

A CME released from the Sun on May 2nd finally reached Earth in the early hours of this morning, sparking a minor geomagnetic storm (Kp5) as seen on my magnetometer record below. The impact event itself was weak, as indicated by the arrow, but the storm is continuing to rumble on as Earth passes through the plasma wake, meaning that Aurora are likely at high latitudes tonight. Probably better in the darker skies in the south.

Excellent :hamster: :hamster: :hamster:

It is now not really getting dark properly so I guess seeing faint aurora is out of the question.
