its it safe to say a SHG is born?
my third attempt - much improved from "ok guys I need your help" thread
this shot shows -- proms , filaments, peach surface, flares
I still got a learning curve on getting brightness and how to fix picture size
would you guys say -- Yes you got a SHG?
question why is sun egg shaped - its it that im not square with slit and optical train?
can that be fixed?
with software

Re: its it safe to say a SHG is born?
It's definitely working. I assume one issue is that the slit is not perpendicular to the scan direction. I don't think that's absolutely necessary but it's obviously helpful if it's not too far off. The current data can be fixed by a transformation in Photoshop (rotate and then resize). Your slit looks very clean (I guess it is relatively wide?). It seems to me you need to improve the focus (of the Sun's image on the slit) since the edge of the Sun does not look extremely sharp.

Re: its it safe to say a SHG is born?
nice result!
Was your mount well align to the north? I think that this is the reason why you face this issue...
I often (always?) get this and playing with shearing and resize effect.
I also would suggest you to close a bit more the slit in order to decrease the wavelength pass

Re: its it safe to say a SHG is born?
thanks for all the kind words
very challenging project
Ive built my own solar scope and modded others but this SHG stuff
requires a bit of different thinking
Look I know i got a ways to go before images come close to SHG images
posted by others in this forum
but it does look like all the pieces are in place
it just getting thru details in the learning curve
I thank all -- ex: Merlin66, Wah! and others that help me with this one
this project - I will be tinkering for a long while

I use freeware GIMP in french
1-Filter / "improve" /remove line
2- Tool / "transformation" / "shearing"
Do you use Wah soft? If yes, did you "play" with it to reduce the smiling effect? Indeed only the center of the sun show Ha wavelengt....

Congratulations!
You may use "skew" and "resize" (1 direction only) functions to make the solar disk round.
The upper part of the sun is a bit off band, it seems not from the smiling effect if the original video is in horizontal.
