ok helium D3 line -- your kidding right

Post by highfnum »

I used "atlas of the solar spectrum from 3000 to 1000" by L. Delbouille
to pick out Helium D3 line
you guys gotta be kidding me - is that all the signal strength
I used 2400lpmm grating - moment big spot crossed spectrum i marked with red tick

plz verify if you can

Here is a quote from one of my earlier posts.

"The He disk is difficult. You can see this spectral region become bright at the limb so you can zoom in on the D3 line fairly easily."

Here is a video frame near the limb:

"My technique is to make a series of SHG images at different wavelengths near D3. To see the absorbing plage regions, I subtract, from this series, an image made from the continuum nearby and process the result. It's a bit of trial and error to find the best continuum image to subtract. Also, I think the professionals divide out the continuum, rather than subtract, but I've had no success doing this. With my instrument and processing, I usually have a series of about 5 images which show the He D3 features (a wavelength span of about 0.3 Angstroms). I choose the best one to tweak."
