Upper middle lower levels question

Is upper middle lower levels of chromosphere same as left wing middle and right wing when creating spectrograph

John,
This is discussed in "imaging Sunlight" Section 3.7.4
Figure 3.16 I think answers your question. For Ha the wings record data at a much lower level of the chromosphere - just above the photosphere whereas the core gives info at around 1500Km.

John,
your animation shows the various levels...
The out of band wings give the near photospheric surface features seen by the SHG in the continuum (similar to white light) and the Ha detail at higher levels where the bandwidth is centred on band, the filaments and proms become more obvious.
