G2 Solar storm in progress 28th Sept

Post by Carbon60 »

A G2 solar storm is in progress. This comes as a result of fast flowing solar wind from a huge coronal hole rotating with the Sun. The aurora displays overnight, I'm sure, were spectacular. There are probably more to come tonight as we're going to sit in this wind stream for a few days and it doesn't take much to spark off the fireworks this time of year.

Here are my magnetometer data covering the event so far.

Certainly could do with some clear skies, Alexandra. Beyond a joke!
