Geomagnetic storm 25th Oct.

Fast flowing solar wind from a large solar coronal hole is fuelling geomagnetic storms here on Earth. Here are my magnetometer data from October 25th when the storm reached level G3, creating beautiful aurora even at lower latitudes (Kp7 at max). The storm is still in progress at the time of posting, as the solar wind remains strong and fast (668km/s).

Thanks for looking.

Yes it looked fabulous on all my alert charts and it was cloudy :( last night I was all excited too, cloudy :(

But at least you recorded it, you don't care if it is cloudy :hamster: :bow :hamster:

You're absolutely correct, Alexandra, my magnetometer works in all weathers, but still it would be nice, for once, to see the aurora from home. :)

Hi all I have also built a magnetometer following the same design as Stuart's a genius way of doing it by the way! Here's my raw data f the event. I'm new to this and it only been up and running for a few weeks.

Mine appears to have different levels. It's located 1 meter underground in Antrim N Ireland. It mirrors storms exactly the same as Lancaster sensors. Appreciate any input.

Hi all I have built the same magnetometer to Stuart's design which is a genius way of doing it. Here is my recording of the event from Antrim. It's been running for a few weeks now and giving excellent results. I will have questions and be interested in comparisons if you folks don't mind ;)

Excellent, Carl. Welcome to the club. This makes 4.

I can send you the excel spreadsheet to plot out the data if you like. Please send me a PM and I'll return by email. Basically Spectrum lab can save each data point in a CSV file from which a range of points can be extracted, scaled and plotted in excel.

Glad it's working out and your data look excellent.

Stu.
