Predicted solar storm arrives

Post by Carbon60 »

Hi all,

The predicted solar storm arrived on October 11th and developed into a G1 geomagnetic storm overnight. This resulted from the impact of high speed solar wind emanating from a large Earth-facing coronal hole. The storm is still underway at the time of writing and is set to reach G2. My magnetometer easily detected the uptick in activity as can be seen from the chart. More to follow.... :)

Many thanks, Alexandra. It was a nice surprise to see my chart on Spaceweather.com

As for the alert, I'm sure it would have been too cloudy anyhow...... it seems always to be the case.

Thanks, Mark. Very satisfying to see the interest from the Spaceweather team.

My magnetometer is poorly again at the moment and needs some TLC in relation to the power supply, which has become erratic. Hopefully it's an easy fix this weekend.
