G2 Geomagnetic Storm 11th Sept 2018

Post by Carbon60 »

There was quite some geomagnetic activity overnight as fast flowing solar wind impacted Earth's magnetic field.

Unfortunately there was only cloud and rain, so no chance of seeing anything from here. Hopefully some of you may have been more fortunate.

Thanks for looking.

Stu.

It is always cloud and rain when an event like this occurs, thankfully your instruments don't mind :hamster:

Nice recording, Stu.
It strikes me as odd and interesting that you're measuring this kind of activity with the quiet Sun. I would've thought there's more of a connection with magnetic activity.

Cheers.
Peter

Thanks Peter/Mark.

Occasional gusts of solar wind from coronal holes help keep things interesting, Peter, even during solar quiet periods.
