I have a quick question,
I have several Lunt Solar Wedges. I recently purchased a Cak Solar Filter off of eBay. I tried using the CaK filter on the base of my eyepiece with the Solar Wedge, but the solar image was not bright enough to penetrate the filter because of the ND Filter in the wedge. Is it possible to remove the ND filter to get more light to the CaK filter on the eyepiece? If so, is this a reasonable and safe way to view Cak?
Thanks.

Re: Using a Lunt Solar Wedge with Cak
Hi Dude
sorry I can not comment on the visual work because I do not see anything below 400 nm. For imaging there is no problem taking off the ND filter from the wedge

Any suggestions on a safe way to use my 127mm and 152mm Refractors to provide a brighter visual view of the Cak wavelength? My CaK PST works fine, but it is a dark image visually. People LOVE to see the sun in the various wavelengths (they call the colors), but the CaK is the most difficult and time consuming view for outreach attendees.

Kids under the age of 13 may manage it...but the older eyes loose the UV response and make visual observing of the CaK region almost impossible.

Not safely for visual. Lunt only recommends scopes up to 100mm with its CaK filters. The Astronomy Dude wrote:Any suggestions on a safe way to use my 127mm and 152mm Refractors to provide a brighter visual view of the Cak wavelength? Okay. That is what I needed to know. I guess I will just use the PST CaK with a camera to show that wavelength, and then use the other scopes for other bandwidths.
Any recommendations for frequencies beside h-Alpha, Calcium, and Green continuum, and where might I get filters for them?

Hi Dude
you can always sell the CaK PST to me. I'll mod the hell out of it ;-)
