Not so much a mod, but wanted to try replacing the rusted ITF on my Coronado BF10. What filter should I be using, does Baader have something that can be used, as there is a Baader dealer reasonably close by, and would prefer to use their products.

Re: Coronado replacement ITF.
Found Marks thread regarding the use of KG3 glass as alternative ITF, might leave this to Meade as it is still under warranty.

Re: Coronado replacement ITF.
The problem with using KG3 glass is that your bandpass needs to be blocked to at least 1000nm.
A bandpass filter that is using an ITF is usually blocked to around 700-800nm. Then they rely on the ITF to block the long side to the IR. On the short side blocking, the colored glass will be used to block the shorter wavelengths with this design.
Now if you are only using it for imaging ,then the Baader 35nm should work well. This set up will be blocked pass 1200nm. Most cameras that we use can't image that far red.

Re: Coronado replacement ITF.
Thanks Mark, I much prefer visual to imaging, so will just send BF back to Meade for warranty repair, at least it's then done properly and I'm not compromising my eyesight.

Hi GUS
you are right. Using the scope visually you should keep to the original configuration- Imaging leaves you allmost all combination open
