Quark tuning dial

Post by axlefoley »

Can someone tell me what the tuning dial on a Quark does.

I don't see any difference turning it from full anti clockwise to full clockwise.

Also has anyone investigated removing the Barlow, which looks like the new Quark soon to be released.

Hi Alan

the knob is tuning the filter from the blue wing to the redwing red (clock wise) you need to wait until the lamp turns green before you judge on the different Settings.

removing the barlow is easy und you can then stack with a other filter

To be honest Walter I have turned the knob from left to right wait for the green light and can't see any difference.

So if I removed the Barlow could I just put a 1.25" or 2" extension tube with the correct thread in place of the Barlow.

It looks to me that the new Quark is the same without the Barlow.

Hi Alan

I don't know. Never had a new Quark in my hands

Walter I just watched a video of Sean from Daystar (who doesn't work there anymore) on the Quark.

I'll set the knob to the centre and try again but this time I'll give it more time to determine any difference in focus by turning the knob in small increments like he says in the video.

Walter if I pluck up enough courage I might try and dismantle the Quark from the Barlow and see if it is possible.
