Stacking a PST

Post by Solar B »

Hi Folks

Wondering if theres any other means of reducing the bandwidth slightly on a PST

without DS ... ie are there any sub-angstrom ha filters that I can stick on its nose at

all.

Thanks ... Brian

Brian,
I only know of double stacking.
I have a DS PST/SM60 combo which works very well..........

Thanks ... oh well DS again it is ... from previous ... I recall the image
being quite dark at 40 ... perhaps the newer SM40s are a bit brighter ?

Would it be possible to see a pic of your DS PST / 60 please.

Brian

Brian,
I use a TS102 f11 scope for the PST mod (and with the Baader Herschel wedge).
I have a special adaptor ring to fit the older SM60/ T-max to the front (replacing the normal ERF I use)
Any DS configuration will give fainter views (bandwidth reduced by x0.5) - some users have removed the built-in ERF from the SM60 (Mark?) to improve transmission. IMHO it's not really a necessary improvement - maybe 5% more light......
I've used a double SM60 stack in the past and the PST/SM60 is almost just as good.
I'll try to post a couple of images later.

A couple of photos of the early SM60 DS, the SM60/PST and the current TS102 with the Baader wedge and the PST Mod.
