CHEAPEST Extension Tube

Post by TheSkyBurner » Wed May 23, 2018 8:25 pm

It seems that there is some sort of mafia controlling the cost of telescope extension tubes, so I found this little gold mine to circumvent the price of gold applied to aluminum.

This is an extremely reliable source of extensions, so do not let the 'made in china' propaganda fool you. I have personally ordered 100 of them and they arrived in less than 10 days.

For this to work properly, You need both of these parts to allow direct stacking of these tubes. You cant beat this price, and functionality. One part is a 58mm male thread to 52mm female thread, the other part is a 52mm male to 58mm female lens shade.

the standard telescope 2" male/female thread is 48mm. So a 48mm to 52mm step up ring is all you need left to work out whatever function you need. As an example of how fun this can be, I have attached a photo of these things attached to a PST gold tube. (a neat project Im working on!)

If you wish to adapt T2 2" adapters, you need these

https://www.ebay.com/itm/48mm-52mm-Step ... 2930842506

The first link converts a t2 female 48mm to 52mm female thread

https://www.ebay.com/itm/RISE-UK-52-48M ... 8264263541

This second adapter changes a 52mm female thread to t2 48mm female thread.

This is how you attach 2" filters or 2" eyepiece barrels, or various other 48mm adapters to make this a telescope standard compliant part.
