To turn it into a digital spectroheliograph you don't need an exit slit on the spectrograph section....in fact a Littrow spectrograph design would be cheaper and probably more efficient.

I think you’ll find a laser collimator is much more accurate.

I ended up making my own based on a laser pointer and a 1.25” extension.
This proved to be more accurate than the commercial unit.
