Lunt CaK Mod - Removing Etalon's adapter

Post by allhoest » Thu May 24, 2018 5:58 pm

Hi!

I tried to get out of the diagonal the adapter holding the last filter (~Etalon).

I removed the hex screws on both sides (they are put back on the here picture, sorry).
Then I tried to get out this adapter, but it doesn't come out (It doesn't move at all...).
Has anyone removed it?
Is it glued?

I see on this adapter: three holes of ~2mm in diameter, located 120°.
One is marked with the arrow.
Do you have any idea for their use?

its looks like it is holding the internal delrin retainer ring just above the filter to prevent its removal. Most lunt filters like this are "clocked" so that if you remove the actual filter you will have a difficult time getting it back into position without marking it somewhere. The "clocking" is set to a specific polarization of the ERF filter.

The 3 holes (one marked by the arrow) are not deep enough to come to the delrin ring.
These holes are approx. 3mm in depth.
The holding ring is maintained by a little strap of glue or silicon.

I was following this post:

and more especially this image from this post, where the part connecting to the diagonal was disassembled:

I gave a try again to remove the etalon holding adapter out of the diagonal, but it is extremely firmly fixed. It is maybe glued.

PS: I'll upload again the pictures of the former post related the to inside inspection of the filter.

I opened again the diagonal and had a closer look.
Indeed there are 2 white straps of something very much looking like glue.
