ideas?

Post by solarchat »

OK, so I have a brand new 6 inch/900mm F6 doublet refractor , an external LS50 etalon, 2 LS60 etalons, an LS35, several focusers and a vivid imagination but limited mechanical skills.

Anyone got any ideas to make up a frankenscope out of this?

Stephen, for what reason did you purchase that particular scope in the first place?

Stephen,
I think all the etalons you mention are external etalons...
The only way to utilise them is either down the Marcon route using a supplimentary refractor to provide a collimated beam to the etalon then another to do the imaging...large, heavy, bulky but a great performer! (A bit like you! ;-))
The other aletrnative is to use a telecentric lens and then a secondary imaging system....

I agree with Merlin. Lots of good examples on this site on how to go about that.

Look Up!

Using just what you've said there stephen, I would put both 60mm etalons on the 6" frac, and put one of your focusers on it if the stock one is a bit ropey...

The 6" F6 should be great for the hi res WL and CaK work that you say you purchased it for but I can't immediately see what advantage adding your list of Ha components to it is going to be over the fine equipment you already use for Ha unless you are looking for a "does all" rig. :)

I wasnt really looking for any advantage, just an intro into modding. Ill wait for a better arrangement. I have parts all over the place from various scopes, etalons, blocking filters, objectives, various refractors, etc..
